Since opening her brick-and-mortar store in 2022 located on the second floor of the Oculus, Alvarez has established a one-stop shop for beauty enthusiasts, offering products that emphasize transparency and inclusivity.

Growing up in a hair salon with her mother as a hairdresser, Alvarez’s journey in beauty started early. Later, she started a career in fashion working with top companies such as Ford Models and Conde Nast. Despite being exposed to countless top-tier beauty products, she struggled to receive the desired results for her hair and skin. Even the most high-end and sought-after products fell short.
Then, she remembered that her mother's advice about beauty and hair care, “Less is more and natural is best,” was key.

“I spent years and OMG SO MUCH money on beauty products in my quest to unlearn everything I thought I knew,” Alvarez said. “Decoding ingredient labels like it was my job (I had no idea it would be later). Don’t get me wrong, I am still and will likely always be a beauty junkie BUT the difference now is that I know what I’m putting on my skin and why.”
Driven by curiosity, Alvarez experimented to see what would happen if she only used water on her skin, both for her face and body. The results were remarkable – by using fewer products her skin was thriving. Since then, her passion for clean beauty has only grown as she recognized the importance of simplicity and transparency with beauty products. After years of searching for stores that offered truly clean and non-toxic products proved unsuccessful, Alvarez decided to create one herself. She founded Pretty Well Beauty – her love letter to beauty to Mother Earth.
“Pretty Well Beauty was born out of my love for clean beauty and wanting to offer people an experience that felt inclusive, streamlined (read, less noisy) and makes them feel good about their decision to take better care of themselves,” Alvarez said.
